The Armed Citizen Project The Armed Citizen Project is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to training and arming residents in mid-high crime areas with defensive shotguns, for free! In training and arming law-abiding residents, we are saturating neighborhoods with defensive weapons, and measuring the effect that a heavily armed society has on crime rates. I heard about this on the Michael Berry podcasts.

New Documents Detail Clinton White House Behind-the-Scenes Role in "War" on Gun Rights
Pushed Plan to Attack the Gun Industry, a la "Big Tobacco"

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch, the public interest group that fights government corruption, announced today that it has uncovered new documents from the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas which shed light on the Clintons’ plan to attack the gun industry.  The following are highlights from the documents:

  • A March 6, 2000 letter from New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer includes a handwritten note at the top from Bill Clinton to then-White House Deputy Counsel Bruce Lindsey, which reads:  "Bruce, See me re: this…has some good ideas for future."  Among the "good ideas" -- denying gun manufacturers the right to sell guns to the military and law enforcement unless they sign an anti-gun "code of conduct" that would have crippled the industry.

  • A memorandum from former Clinton Advisor Sidney Blumenthal to Bruce Reed, Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, dated November 9, 1998, reads:  "I've enclosed an article and a press release about the new effort to file class action suits against gun manufacturers.  I think this is a very promising idea.  Let's talk about it soon."  The press release, from the Mayor’s Office in New Orleans, was in draft form, suggesting the Mayor coordinated the strategy with the White House.

  • The "promising idea" identified by Blumenthal involved filing massive product liability and negligence lawsuits against major handgun makers, "the opening salvo in a campaign against the gun industry by an alliance of anti-tobacco attorneys and local governments," wrote The Los Angeles Times.  According to one of the lawyers involved in the lawsuits:  "We are going to do to [the gun industry] what we did to tobacco.  It's going to be a very large war."

In March 2000, less than two years after the Blumenthal memo referenced above, the Clinton strategy was used to strong-arm gun manufacturer Smith and Wesson to install gun locks, introduce so-called “smart gun” strategy, and to ban the sale of its weapons at trade shows.  Smith and Wesson broke ranks with other gun manufacturers and agreed to execute this strategy if a lawsuit against the company would be dropped.

“These new documents clearly show that the Clinton administration put into motion an organized plan to attack the gun industry,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.  “Tough questions about these extortive methods ought to be asked of both Clintons.”

Researchers say endangered mouse never existed

Excerpt: In rural areas, protecting the mouse has meant telling ranchers they cannot clear weeds out of their irrigation canals - reducing the amount of water that gets to their hay fields in the middle of summer. They are also restricted in how they can allow their animals to graze along streams.
On top of that, the mouse also has blocked the construction of reservoirs amid a five-year drought in the Rocky Mountains.
"The bottom line is, it has been a wonderful tool for environmental groups to try to stop things," said Kent Holsinger, attorney for Coloradans for Water Conservation and Development, which has asked the Fish and Wildlife Service to remove the mouse (that doesn't exist) from federal protection. How long do you think it will take?

Follow up story: Finally Jumping Mouse Loses Federal Protection It took long enough. It never existed as a separate species and was used by a bunch of overeducated pointy heads to block the progress of free enterprise. And of course a fake picture.

A joke pokes fun at the Partisan Media

Two boys in Boston were playing basketball when a rabid Rottweiler attacked one of them. Thinking quickly, the other boy ripped a board off a nearby fence, wedged it into the dog's collar and twisted it, breaking the dog's neck.

A newspaper reporter from the Boston Herald witnessed the incident and rushed over to interview the boy.

The reporter began entering data into his laptop, beginning with the headline: "Brave Young Celtics Fan Saves Friend From
Jaws Of Vicious Animal."

"But I'm not a Celtics fan, "the little hero interjected. "Sorry, replied the reporter. "But since we're in Boston, Mass, I just assumed you were."

Hitting the delete key, the reporter began "John Kerry Fan rescues Friend From Horrific Dog Attack."

"But I'm not a Kerry fan either," the boy responds.

The reporter says, "I assumed everybody in this state was either for the Celtics or Kerry or Kennedy."

"What team or person do you like? "

"I'm a Houston Rockets fan and I really like George W. Bush" the boy says.

Hitting the delete key, the reporter begins again, "Arrogant Little Conservative Brat Kills Beloved Family Pet."

Some Facts about Enron (Truth or Hoax?)

This is an interesting bit of information that you don't hear much about in the media.

  • Enron's chairman did meet with the president and the vice president in the Oval Office.
  • Enron gave $420,000 to the president's party over three years.
  • It donated $100,000 to the president's inauguration festivities.
  • The Enron chairman stayed at the White House 11 times.
  • The corporation had access to the administration at its highest levels and even enlisted the Commerce and State Departments to grease deals for it.
  • The taxpayer-supported Export-Import Bank subsidized Enron for more than $600 million in just one transaction. Scandalous!!
  • BUT...the president under whom all this happened WASN'T George W.Bush.
  • SURPRISE ........ It was Bill Clinton!

Please pass this on so the whole Country will Know. The Media Won't!

Is Snopes.com trying to do a cover-up here. Is it an urban legend or is it cutting too close to expose the liberal's agenda? Is Snopes trying to blame Bush & Cheney for what the Clinton administration did? It looks to me like Snopes is to leaks of the truth as the team the Clinton administration was to responding to the bimbo eruptions.

Did you hear about this?

Rumsfeld: Kennedy 'All Wet' About Bush Lies

(2/5/04) -- Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told Sen. Edward
M. Kennedy yesterday that he was "all wet" when the Senator alleged
that the Bush administration lied about Iraq's weapons of mass
destruction to justify going to war.

The verbal clash came during Mr. Rumsfeld's testimony at a Senate
Armed Services Committee hearing probing the state of prewar
intelligence.

Sen. Kennedy began his questioning of the Defense Secretary by
saying, "Don't you think some members of the Bush administration should
be held legally accountable for the lies they told about Iraqi weapons, and
the subsequent cover-up?"

"First, with all due respect Senator Kennedy, you're all wet," said
Mr. Rumsfeld "The administration has not lied or covered up. However, in
general, I do believe that when a man commits a crime he should face the
bar of justice. He should not be allowed to serve in positions of
power in our government, and be hailed as a leader, when the question of
his guilt remains unresolved, if you know what I mean."

"I'm sure I do not know what you mean," Mr. Kennedy said. "But the
American people deserve to know why you can't find Saddam's weapons
of mass destruction."

"Sometimes things are hard to find, even when you know where they
are," said Mr. Rumsfeld. "For example, I've heard of a man who missed a
bridge and drove his car into the water, even though he knew where the
bridge was. And then sometimes you just keep diving into a problem and
despite repeated efforts, you come up empty handed. That doesn't mean
that nothing's there. As you know, eventually, the truth comes to light."

Having no further questions, Mr. Kennedy yielded the remainder of
his time.

I checked Snopes and they claim it is false, but I don't believe them anymore. Snopes is to leaks of the truth as Clinton's Bimbo Eruption's team was to virginity.

Good Hunting... from Varmint Al

From an email I received:

I sat in my seat of the Boeing 767 waiting for everyone to hurry and stow their carry-ons and grab a seat so we could start what I was sure to be a long , uneventful flight home. With the huge capacity and slow moving people taking their time to stuff luggage far too big for the overhead and never paying much attention to holding up the growing line behind them, I simply shook my head knowing that this flight was not starting out very well.

I was anxious to get home to see my loved ones so I was focused on "my" issues and just felt like standing up and yelling for some of these clowns to get their act together. I knew I couldn't say a word so I just thumbed thru the "Sky Mall" magazine from the seat pocket in front of me. You know it's really getting rough when you resort to the over priced, useless sky mall crap to break the monotony.

With everyone finally seated, we just sat there with the cabin door open and no one in any hurry to get us going although we were well past the scheduled take off time. No wonder the airline industry is in trouble I told myself. Just then, the attendant came on the intercom to inform us all that we were being delayed. The entire plane let out a collective groan. She resumed speaking to say "We are holding the aircraft for some very special people who are on their way to the plane and the delay shouldn't be more than 5 minutes. The word came after waiting six times as long as we were promised that "I" was finally going to be on my way home. Why the hoopla over "these" folks? I was expecting some celebrity or sport figure to be the reason for the hold up. Just get their butts in a seat and let's hit the gas I thought.

The attendant came back on the speaker to announce in a loud and excited voice that we were being joined by several U. S. Marines returning home from Iraq!!! Just as they walked on board, the entire plane erupted into applause. The men were a bit taken by surprise by the 340 people cheering for them as they searched for their seats. They were having their hands shook and touched by almost everyone who was within an arm's distance of them as they passed down the aisle. One elderly woman kissed the hand of one of the Marines as he passed by her. The applause, whistles and cheering didn't stop for a long time.

When we were finally airborne, "I" was not the only civilian checking his conscience as to the delays in "me" getting home, finding my easy chair, a cold beverage and the remote in my hand.

These men had done for all of us and I had been complaining silently about "me" and "my" issues. I took for granted the everyday freedoms I enjoy and the conveniences of the American way of life I took for granted others paid the price for my ability to moan and complain about a few minutes delay to "me" those Heroes going home to their loved ones.

I attempted to get my selfish outlook back in order and minutes before we landed I suggested to the attendant that she announce over the speaker a request for everyone to remain in their seats until our hero's were allowed to gather their things and be first off the plane. The cheers and applause continued until the last Marine stepped off and we all rose to go about our too often taken for granted everyday freedoms.

I felt proud of them. I felt it an honor and a privilege to be among the first to welcome them home and say Thank You for a job well done. I vowed that I will never forget that flight nor the lesson learned. I can't say it enough, THANK YOU to those Veterans and active servicemen and women who may read this and a prayer for those who cannot because they are no longer with us.

GOD BLESS AMERICA
WELCOME HOME
THANKS FOR A JOB WELL DONE

Have I outlived my freedom?
I wasn’t PC brainwashed as a kid.

When I was a young kid some 50 years ago and we would go camping, Pop told me the National Forests belonged to all the people and to always leave a clean camp. Leave it as clean or cleaner when you leave as it was when you arrived. Well, I guess I have outlived the freedom to enjoy the outdoors of those years.

I am just back from a camping and fishing trip to Capps Crossing on the North Fork of the Consumnes River in Central California N38º-38.847' W120º-23.725'. There is a "pay" Forestry Campground on the main North-South Road, but we always use to go upstream where the road parallels the river for about 10 miles and camp along the river at one of the many

"unimproved" campsites with old fire rings and reasonably close to the water. We could drive in and park right next to where we put up the tent and made camp.

Well, things have changed. By the direction of John Berry of the El Dorado National Forest, access to the campsites has been blocked off. Huge boulders now form a barrier line at the edge of the road, as evil as a concertina wire fence, so that no vehicles can get access to the campsites. Two or three hundred yards away from the campsites, one is now supposed to park his car or truck and pack all the gear to the campsite. Then campers are expected to leave their vehicle next to the road all night long, 300 yards away from their tent, and hope there are no vandals looking for vehicles to plunder.

We were camped at the only piece of private land in the area for 3 days while we watched truck and trailer loads of boulders being hauled up the road to place by a bulldozer to restrict access. Each truck load of boulders tied the knot in my stomach just a bit tighter as it went by.

The fishing on the North Fork of the Consumnes River is not great, but for about 30 years it has been fun with dry flies for the native rainbows and browns. They don’t stock the river and the native population, although not monsters, rise readily to a Royal Wolff. But I guess I will leave the area to those who have been brainwashed in the PC schools to accept the fact that John Berry now owns the rights to force compliance. Maybe it was eight years of the previous administration and Bruce Babbitt where it got started, but it is not right and should be stopped.

It would be a good fight if there was some recourse to gain back our freedoms to use Our National Forests.

Cold Hearted View

My Cold Hearted View of abortion says that it is really a self curing problem. In time, the problem will go away by itself. Those women who don’t have the time and don't want to take the trouble to raise a child have an abortion. They are removing their genes from the gene pool. As time passes, only mothers who want children and are willing to take care of them will remain in the population. Therefore, slowly, the defective genes are being systematically removed from the gene pool.

As a sidebar, Rush was talking on his radio program awhile back that there have been about 40 million abortions since Roe v Wade. That makes me wonder: Could it be that the Liberals have also aborted themselves out of power? If only a small majority of the 40 million who were aborted were now alive and voting as Liberals, the Democrats would be in control of the US Presidency, the House, and the Senate!

Well, this is wrong. It doesn't account for ACORN and the influx of illegal aliens that SHOULD NOT be able to vote, but do vote democrat.

The Plan

First, close the borders:
A
.. Back off and let those men who want to marry men, marry men.
B.. Allow those women who want to marry women, marry women.
C.. Allow those women who want to abort their babies, abort their babies.
D.. In three generations, there would be no Democrats.

The Tax Cut
by Anonymous

Let's put tax cuts in terms everyone can understand. Suppose that every day, ten men go out for dinner. The bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men - the poorest - would pay nothing

The fifth would pay $1

The sixth would pay $3

The seventh $7

The eighth $12

The ninth $18

The tenth man - the richest - would pay $59.

That's what they decided to do. The ten men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement - until one day, the owner threw them a curve.

"Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20."

So now dinner for the ten only cost $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So the first four men were unaffected. They would still eat for free. But what about the other six - the paying customers? How could they divvy up the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his "fair share?"

The six men realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would end up being 'paid' to eat their meal.

So the restaurant owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so the fifth man paid nothing, the sixth pitched in $2, the seventh paid $5, the eighth paid $9, the ninth paid $12, leaving the tenth man with a bill of $52 instead of his earlier $59.

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to eat for free.
But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20," declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth. "But he got $7!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got seven times more than me!"

"That's true!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $7 back when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!"

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night he didn't show up for dinner, so the nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They were $52 short!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college instructors, is how the tax system works.

The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction.

Bills Concerning Guns & Firearms, Introduced in the 108th Congress  Excellent site to keep track of the Gun Legislation Bills in Congress.

Another Gun Grabbing Liberal Democrat Hypocrite is Exposed

The Senate's leading gun control advocate, Senator Charles Schumer (D) NY - who's currently pressuring the White House to extend the 1994 assault weapons ban - travels with an armed bodyguard, www. NewsMax.com has learned.

Questions arose Wednesday morning about the gun opponent's security arrangements after the New York Post's Cindy Adams mentioned in her column that Schumer appeared at a recent event with a bodyguard in tow.

A quick call to Schumer's office confirmed that the man guarding the Senate's number one gun controller was packing heat.

"He's a New York police detective," the Senator's spokesman revealed to www.NewsMax.com  When asked whether Schumer's detective was indeed armed, the spokesman replied, "I would imagine so."

Sensing a public relations problem in the making, the Senator's spokesman explained that his boss "believes in the second amendment and the right to bear arms."

"So I don't think there's anything inconsistent about it," he insisted.

In recent days Senator Schumer has mounted a campaign to get the White House to actively press Republicans in Congress to back an extension of the 1994 assault weapons ban, which he sponsored.

"We hope the president will not just say he supports the ban but will work to get it passed," the New York Democrat told reporters last week, adding, "This will be a good measure of the compassion in his compassionate conservatism." *

No doubt the good Senator's armed bodyguard agrees.

*Gun Owners and Gun Rights Advocates hope that this new AWB bill will never make it to President Bush's desk in the first place.

Senate Bill 1655: Senators who know absolutely nothing about Hunting attempting to control it.

Legislation is now before the Senate Judiciary Committee that could seriously jeopardize game programs across the country by federalizing hunting laws. Senate Bill 1655 would put a "one size fits all" policy on wildlife management activities that ignores the diverse hunting culture in this country. Sportsmen across the nation need to contact their U.S. Senators in opposition to this bill.

MY COMMENTS.... What these sponsors know about hunting wouldn't fill a 17 HMR brass! Want to tell me there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats? At least we have a Republican President that has actually been out in the field hunting and he can veto any such stupid legislation if it every happens to pass!

CAUTION.... The real threat to freedom here is liberal incrementalism in controlling and eventually eliminating every freedom. The exotic animal part is only the first step in stopping all hunting. Remember how they only wanted to "just have separate smoking areas" in airplanes?

MY QUESTION... How can any Knowledgeable Hunter and/or Gun Owner support the DemocRat Party?

For reference, here is the U.S. Constitution, including all of the amendments and the dates they were passed. Framing the Bill of Rights.

"The strength of the Constitution lies entirely in the determination of each citizen to defend it. Only if every single citizen feels duty bound to do his share in this defense are the constitutional rights secure." - Albert Einstein

Small Arms Save Lives
By John R. Lott Jr.

The United Nations’ conference on small arms, which ended in controversy earlier this month, had an admirable enough goal: to save lives. Some conference attendees claimed that guns used in armed conflicts cause 300,000 deaths world-wide every year. The "international community’s" proposed solution? Prevent rebels from getting guns by requiring that "member states complete a registry of all small arms within their borders" and by "limiting the sale of such weapons only to governments."

This may be an understandable "solution" from governments that don’t trust their citizens. But it also represents a dangerous disregard for their citizens’ safety and freedom. For that reason, the Bush administration should be thanked, not scolded, for effectively squelching the accord.

Why? First, and most obviously, because not all insurgencies are bad. It is hardly surprising that infamous regimes such as those in Syria, Cuba, Rwanda, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, and Sierra Leone support these provisions. To ban providing guns to rebels in totalitarian countries is like arguing that there is never anything such as a just war.

But, in hindsight, would Europeans really have preferred that no resistance was put up as Hitler rolled across Europe? Should the French or Norwegian resistance movements simply have given up? Surely this would have minimized war causalities. Many countries already ban private gun ownership. Rwanda and Sierra Leone are two notable examples. Yet, with more than a million people hacked to death over the last seven years, were their citizens better off without guns?

Schindler’s Guns

What about the massacre of civilians in Bosnia? Would that have been so easy if the Bosnian people had been able to defend themselves? And what about the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto during World War II? Wouldn’t it have been better if they had more guns to defend themselves? With all the well-deserved publicity for the movie "Schindler’s List," the movie left out how Schindler, an avid gun collector, stockpiled guns and hand grenades in case the Jews he was protecting needed to defend themselves. More recently, the rules would have prevented the American government from assisting the Afghanis in their fight against the Soviet Union.

There is a second reason to avoid a ban on small arms. Even in free countries, where there is little risk of a totalitarian regime, gun bans all but invariably result in higher crime. In the U.S., the states with the highest gun ownership rates have by far the lowest violent crime rates. And similarly, over time, states with the largest increases in gun ownership have experienced the biggest drops in violent crime.

Recent research by Jeff Miron at Boston University, examining homicide rates across 44 countries, found that countries with the strictest gun control laws also tended to have the highest homicide rates. Earlier this month, news reports in Britain showed how crimes with guns have risen 40% since handguns were banned in 1997. Police are extremely important in stopping crime, but almost always arrive on the scene after the crime occurs. What would the U.N. recommend that victims do when they face criminals by themselves? Passive behavior is much more likely to result in serious injury or death than using a gun to defend oneself. The only serious research on this issue has been conducted in the United States.

The National Crime Victimization Report, done by the U.S. Department of Justice, indicates consistently that women who behave passively are 2.5 times more likely to be seriously injured than women who defend themselves with a gun. It is the physically weakest people (women and the elderly) who benefit the most from having a gun. Criminals, overwhelmingly young males, like to attack the targets that will give them the least trouble. A gun represents a great equalizer. Defensive gun uses are almost completely ignored by the media, but Americans use guns defensively about two million times a year, five times more often than guns are used to commit crimes.

Media Disregard

No one would ever learn this by simply watching the news. In part this disregard by the media might arise because an innocent person’s murder is more newsworthy than when a victim brandishes a gun and an attacker runs away with no crime committed. Unlike the crimes that are avoided, bad events provide emotionally gripping pictures. But covering only the bad events creates the impression that guns only cost lives. Even the rare local media coverage of defensive gun use in the seldom involves more than very brief stories. News worthiness also dictates that these stories are not the typical examples of self-defense, but the rare instances where the attacker is shot. In fact, in up to 98% of the cases, simply brandishing a gun is sufficient to stop a crime.

Fewer than one out of 1,000 defensive gun uses results in the attacker’s death. World-wide we hear about crimes like the public-school shootings, as we should, but we never even hear locally about the many more lives saved. Since the well-known public shootings started in the fall of 1997, 32 students and three teachers have been killed in any type of shooting at elementary or secondary schools, an annual rate of one death per four million students. This includes deaths from gang fights, robberies, accidents, as well as attacks such as the one at Columbine.

But some sense of proportion is needed. During that same period, 53 students died playing high school football.

Mr. Lott is a senior research scholar at Yale University Law School and author of More Guns, Less Crime (University of Chicago Press, 2000).

Food for Thought

If 'The People' in the Second Amendment only pertains to a Well Regulated Militia, then women were left out of the First, Second, Fourth, Ninth, and Tenth Amendments of the Bill of Rights.

If the term The People in Second Amendment only means a Militia is allowed to possess arms, and a Militia is defined as All able-bodied MALES between certain age limits, then females were not  considered to have the inalienable right to keep and bear arms. But, if the Second Amendment term, The People, means all citizens, then men and women are born with equal rights protected by the Bill of Rights including the Second Amendment.

In all the multitude of writings about the Second Amendment and its interpretation, I have not heard this gender argument stated. Maybe I just missed it.

Beware: N.O.W. - and other women organizations, you were left out of the Bill of Rights, If "The People" meant only able-bodied males in the Second Amendment, it must have meant the same thing in all the rest of the 10 Amendments.....

Here is the argument in its simplest terms:
A = The People
B = The militia
W = women
If A only means B and B excludes W then A excludes W.

The next time someone argues that the Second Amendment only applies to The Militia, try this logic on them. Also, point out that The Second Amendment, ratified in 1787, could not possibly refer to the National Guard, which was created by an act of Congress in 1917.
Conclusion: "The People" in the Second Amendment meant and still means "All The People".

How Many Laws Does It Take?

With more than 25,000 assorted gun related laws on the books in the US, what are your chances of being a legal gun owner? If the BATF wants to arrest you, with that many laws to select from, you are guilty. There is probably not a single gun owner that is in compliance with all of those unconstitutional laws. There are probably multiple instances of conflicting laws where, when you comply with one law, you are then guilty of an infraction of other laws by your mere compliance. Not a chicken in every pot, but an armed felon in every pot with the fire on and the water heating to a boil - every so slowly - ribbet ribbet ribbet ribbet...___

56 Million people murdered by their Own Governments in the 20th Century!

What is the message?  "Gun Safety" KILLS! -- It kills Children, Religious, and Ethnic Minorities.

Sara Brady, if you Want to be rid of the Second Amendment? Move to China!

In China there is NO Second Amendment or Right to Own a Gun. There, you get to hold targets for the police and/or military to practice shooting. Please help do your part to preserve our Second Amendment and our Gun Rights or you might get the target with the Short Stick like they do in China! Why would they worry about ear protection even for the target holders in China. It looks like they don't want to make eye contact with the police. That might make him mad and shaky. What do you think the guy squatting did to get the short stick duty? We still have the Bill of Rights.

Minister Joe Wright's Prayer at the Kansas Senate

When minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new sessions of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

''Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, ''Woe to those who call evil good.'' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We confess that:

  • We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word ...... and called it Pluralism.
  • We have worshipped other gods ...... and called it multiculturalism.
  • We have endorsed perversion ...... and called it alternative lifestyle.
  • We have exploited the poor ...... and called it the lottery.
  • We have rewarded laziness ...... and called it welfare.
  • We have killed our unborn ...... and called it choice.
  • We have shot the abortionist ...... and called it justifiable.
  • We have neglected to discipline our children ...... and called it building self-esteem.
  • We have abused power ...... and called it politics.
  • We have coveted our neighbor's possessions ...... and called it ambition.
  • We have polluted the air with profanity ...... and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
  • We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers ...... and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to direct us to the center of your will. I ask it in the Name of Your Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ. ---- Amen.''

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In six short weeks, Central Christian Church, were Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India, Africa, and Korea. Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on The Rest of the Story on the radio and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired.

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called one nation under God?

Best Quote of Last Year
By Charlton Heston

"Mr. Clinton, sir, America did not trust you with our health care system. America did not trust you with gays in the military. We did not trust you with our 21-year-old daughters, and we sure...... Lord, don't trust you with our guns." by Charlton Heston. He also went on to say to the NRA members: "Once the votes are counted, the die is cast. Get together or get out of the way."

125th Annual NRA Members Banquet

If you want to feel the warm breath of freedom on your neck... If you want to touch the pulse of liberty that beat in our founding fathers, you may do so through the majesty of the Second Amendment.

Because there, in that wooden stock and blued steel, there lies what give the most common of men the most uncommon of freedoms. When ordinary hands are free to own this extraordinary symbol, representing the full measure of human dignity and liberty, that is as good as you can have it.

It doesn't matter whether its purpose is to defend our shores or your front door.. whether it is a rite of passage for a young man, or a tool of survival for a young woman.. whether it brings meat for the table or trophies for the shelf.. without respect to age, or gender, or race, or class, the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms connects us all -- with all that is right.

And to those who say the Second Amendment doesn't mean what we say it means, let's settle that right now. The purpose of every line of the Bill of Rights was to protect the people from the state. Our founders refused to ratify a Constitution that didn't protect individual liberties. They were just a bunch of old, dead white guys, but they invented this country, and they meant what they said. The Second Amendment isn't about the National Guard or the police or any other government entity. It is about law-abiding, private U.S., citizens. Period.

Quotes on Taxes

Republicans believe every day is 4th of July, but Democrats believe every day is April 15.

We don't have a trillion-dollar debt because we haven't taxed enough; we have a trillion-dollar debt because we spend too much.

Welfare's purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence.

[G]overnment's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Government is the people's business and every man, woman and child becomes a shareholder with the first penny of tax paid.

NEW BOOK MORE GUNS, LESS CRIME.... I have been informed of a new book that I have on order from Amazon Books.

More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws
John R. Lott, Jr.
University of Chicago Press

Does allowing people to own or carry guns deter violent crime? Or does it cause more citizens to harm each other? Wherever people happen to fall along the ideological spectrum, their answers are all too often founded upon mere impressionistic and anecdotal evidence. In this direct challenge to conventional wisdom, legal scholar John Lott presents the most rigorously comprehensive data analysis ever done on crime. In this timely and provocative work he comes to a startling conclusion: More Guns Mean Less Crime. Articles by Professor John Lott, Jr. is a site that has some of John's article on the web.

Here is a short interview with the author John R. Lott, Jr.

"John Lott documents how far 'politically correct' vested interests are willing to go to denigrate anyone who dares disagree with them. Lott has done us all a service by his thorough, thoughtful scholarly approach to a highly controversial issue."-Milton Friedman

Concealed Carry Laws SAFE
April 9, 1999
Augusta Chronicle Editorial Staff

The first studies are coming in on the impact of liberalized concealed weapons laws -- common in most Southern states -- and the results are far from what the anti-gun crowd expected.

According to Jonathan Rauch in National Journal, less than 5 percent of a state's population applies for permits, but the perception that more people are carrying hidden firearms has cut down on the amount of violent crime.

The gun-control lobby predicted just the opposite: that communities would turn into Dodge City shootouts.

People who are willing to register with the sheriff, pay a fee and take a gun safety course -- all requirements before being allowed to "pack heat" -- are actually among the most law-abiding citizens in the nation, reports Rauch. Their record of handling concealed firearms are better than that of off-duty police.

In Florida, for instance, only 0.13 percent of concealed-carry licenses were revoked from 1987-97 for criminal or wrongful use. Rauch turned up no evidence that anyone was murdered by a licensed carrier.

Moreover, he notes, looser concealed weapons laws actually deter bad behavior, since carriers can lose their permits if they get into trouble.

It seems to us more states ought to liberalize their concealed carry laws. In any event, a policy that encourages good citizenship, responsible use of firearms and helps curb crime deserves to be praised, not condemned.

The Best Defense True Stories of Intended Victims Who Defended Themselves with a Firearm
by Robert A. Waters

A Tribute to Rush Limbaugh

AND NOW . . . Amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, with talent on loan from God...DA, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back — just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, Maha-Rushie! America's Anchorman, Truth Detector, and Doctor of Democracy. He is the man who runs America. He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do . . . That's host. Get ready to do what you were born to do . . . That's listen.

THE FIRST TIME.... I retired from LLNL in 1990 and on my first weekend of retirement, I found Rush Limbaugh on the radio. He was talking about sending bus tickets to the homeless so they could move to Charley Sheen's home town of Malibu, CA. I think the mayor called in objecting, but it sounded like a good idea and I was hooked on Rush. The wife and I had worked hard and only had time for the evening news and were brain washed by the "Drive-By" liberal news media. In the first 6 months of listening to Rush, we both learned more about politics than we had learned up to that time. I was beginning to understand what was going on in Washington and I could explain the difference between a Conservative and a Liberal. I had been a Conservative all the while, but hadn't really had time to think about politics with the clarity that Rush was using daily.

POLITICAL EDUCATION.... Rush was explaining "Baseline Budgeting", "Hillary's Health Care Plan", "Women farding in cars", "Newt's Contract with America", and all facets of politics. He was on a roll and I was becoming able to talk politics with anyone. My Dad was a long time Republican and I sent him the Limbaugh Letter for his birthday and he was extremely happy to read it and he also started listening to Rush.

RUSH AS A FRIEND.... Rush talks about things that he is interested in and he tells us what he thinks about them and there is an openness to his personality that is refreshing. In the process, listeners begin to know Rush as a friend. I have the feeling that it would be fun to sit down and chat with him just as if he were on old friend that was over for a visit. His confidence in what he says is reassuring and his empathy for understanding how other people feel about various human conditions is obvious to the dedicated listener.

THE NEW LISTENER.... It is his empathy for new listeners that makes him over explain certain details about each subject. He realizes there are new listeners all the time and he does not want them to feel like they have to be an insider to understand what is going on. For someone who listens most of the time, it gets a bit tedious, but for the new listener it is a blessing. Rush is reassuring Conservatives and converting Liberals and "Never-had-time-to-think-about-it" types into Conservatives. Many of the listeners have told Rush that when they first started listening, they didn't like him and his arrogance, but after a bit, they changed their view and the arrogance really turned out to be Rush's confidence in his views. When a person speaks confidently and logically, the listener is drawn into deeper thinking about the issue.

A STUDENT OF LOGIC.... Rush tells about his early years and sitting at his father's knee when he was discussing legal issues with other lawyers. What little Rush was doing, was learning logic and the art of debate at an early age. He was like a Tiger Woods, but his game was logic instead of golf. I like Rush's statement to his mom. She would tell him to eat all the food on his plate because people in China were starving. He ate all the food and then when he finished, he asked his mom if that had helped any of the people in China. My mom told me eat all my food because there were starving people in the world, but I did not challenge the logic of the argument like Rush did.

TWENTY MILLION LISTENERS.... Clinton called a Talk Radio Show, not the EIB, and complained that after 3 hours of Rush each day, there was no "truth detector". This was clear evidence that Rush was making inroads on the tight grip the Liberals had on their support and media spin. Clinton even went so far as to blame Talk Radio for OKC Bombing. I believe he even named G. Gordon Liddy by name. After Janet Reno was attacked in a congressional hearing by Conyers and Clinton jokingly claimed that 'Rush only stood up for her because he was a white guy', I remember Rush's apology to Clinton and it was very powerful. Rush could not, even jokingly, accept being called a racists and remain silent! In my view, getting the attacks from the Clinton administration was ample evidence that Rush was effective in what he was doing and redoubled my eagerness to listen to every program. Twenty Million listeners is a pretty good indication that people are getting information from Rush. That many people would not be attracted to idle chatter. I remember the day Rush said that he was "Going to support Clinton's election campaign". Remember that? It was a rouse to show how important honesty was. Then someone called in and questioned Rush as to why he was going to vote for Clinton. Rush claimed he had said nothing of the kind and that he was younger then and had never said that. People were so upset with him in one hour that they were calling up and canceling their subscriptions to the Limbaugh Letter, going to quit listening, and ready to hang up on him. All he had done was tell a minor Clinton type lie but people expected more because they had built a trust in Rush's honesty! They were expecting more from Rush than most (by the polls) expect from the president.

LAUGHING OUT LOUD.... The funniest time I remember was when he had a rule that to talk on the phone, women had to have a picture on file so that he could see who he was talking to. Rush was getting lots of pictures and really having fun and also getting many more women to call the program, which was his intent all along. Well, he had played "Tiptoeing Through the Tulips", by Tiny Tim for an environmental theme and someone claimed that he should get Tiny Tim's approval on using the song. While I was listening to this, I was on a Mule Deer hunt up in Oregon. I had a tiny AM radio with an earplug in one ear and was listening. I had just climbed out on a rock ledge overlooking a large area and was planning to observe for deer for the next hour or so. I was going to eat an apple, relax, hunt, and listen to Rush. Well, Tiny Tim was on the phone and Rush was talking to him about the song. Then Rush said that he needed a picture of Tiny Tim so that he could talk to him and Tiny Tim said he would Fax him one. I burst out laughing out loud. Rush was making fun of Tiny Tim and all the listeners knew, but Tiny Tim was oblivious of what was going on. It ruined the hunting spot, and I had to move on, still chuckling a bit.

DOWNSIDE.... Sometimes, Rush lets Liberals talk too long and after they have repeated themselves and start personally attacking Rush, I do talk back to the radio and tell Rush to "Get that Liberal A**H*** off the air". After you have heard a few of them and how they operate on feelings, without facts, and then start personal attacks, you would probably get impatient too.

FOUND FREE REPUBLIC.... I heard "Peter the Lawyer" (Peter Mulhern who now has the Washington-Weekly) the first time he was on Rush and then when he called the second time, Rush said that the transcript of the first call was on the Free Republic Web Site. It only took a few minutes to find the transcript on the site, but what was even more important, there was a list of discussions about what Peter had said. It was wonderful to know that there are so many other conservatives out there. It is thought provoking to read what these good people think without a liberal filter being applied by the news media. Each weekday morning I listen to Rush and surf the Free Republic. Free Republic and Rush is an awesome combo!

Varmint Al MENTIONED ON THE RUSH PROGRAM.... In early 1999, I was, and still am, adding each of Charlton Heston's speeches to the my web site so people could easily get access to read them. Well, Rush read part of Charlton Heston's Speech Winning The Cultural War and I believe he only read part of it. He told the radio audience that he was not going to tell them where the speech was on the internet and they could find it for themselves. After the break, a woman called in and said that she found it easily. She went to a search engine and found it on Varmint Al's Gun Rights & Politics Page! Here it is - listen to the clip. That was it! One fleeting moment on the program. My page got and extra 500-1000 hits that day. I also got mentioned on the FreeRepublic.com and got kudos for the posters there.

HOW CAN YOU FIND RUSH ON THE RADIO.... Click on Official Rush Limbaugh Web Site to find out what stations have Rush in your area or listen online. Don't judge Rush by what someone says about him, including even me. Listening to a few programs is the only way to find out what Rush is all about.... Dittos from Varmint Al

HAVING TROUBLE HEARING RUSH?.... Here is an antenna that allows you to hear Rush in low signal areas. The Terk AM Advantage. This antenna is a highly sensitive AM radio antenna that requires no connection to your radio. It uses no batteries or external AC power source of any kind. It works great to hear Rush in low signal areas.

A Clear Difference is Exposed Between Conservatives and Liberals
Presidential Debate of Oct. 3, 2000

For those who believe there is not a dime's worth of difference between Bush and Gore.
Here is the difference that will be most important of all in preserving the Constitution and our Freedoms.

Bush:

Voters should assume that I have no litmus test on that
issue or any other issue. The voters will know I'll put competent
judges on the bench, people who will strictly interpret the
Constitution and will not use the bench to write social policy.

And that's going to be a big difference between my opponent and
me. I believe that I believe that the judges ought not to take
the place of the legislative branch of government, that they're
appointed for life and that they ought to look at the Constitution
as sacred. They shouldn't misuse their bench. I don't believe in
liberal, activist judges. I believe in I believe in strict
constructionists. And those are the kind of judges I will appoint.
I've named four Supreme Court judges in the state of Texas, and
I would ask the people to check out their qualifications, their
deliberations. They're good, solid men and women who have made good
sound judgments on behalf of the people of Texas.

Lehrer:
What kind of appointments should they expect from you,
Vice President Gore?

Gore:
Both of us use similar language to reach an exactly
opposite outcome. I don't favor litmus tests, but I know that there
are ways to assess how a potential justice interprets the
Constitution. And, in my view, the Constitution ought to be
interpreted as a document that grows with our country and our
history.

I am thankful that Gore never got the chance to appoint Judges who feel that the Second Amendment only applies to the militia.

LIBERAL VS CONSERVATIVE.... I am compiling a list of comparisons between liberals and conservatives. Here are a few. Please send me your contributions so that I may add them to the list.

LIBERAL.... A liberal thinks that perjury and obstruction of justice is no crime if committed by IMPOTUS.
CONSERVATIVE.... A conservative believes that there should be equal justice under the law and no man is above the law.

LIBERAL.... A liberal believes the constitution is a tool to interpret/change to whatever they want it to say.
CONSERVATIVE.... A conservative respects the constitution and believes in preserving the original intent of the founding fathers.

LIBERAL.... A liberal uses feelings to come to a conclusion and then tries to use logic to justify the conclusion.
CONSERVATIVE.... A conservative weighs the facts of the arguments and then uses logic to come to the best conclusion.

LIBERAL.... A liberal knows you need help because he believes you can't get along without someone's help.
CONSERVATIVE.... A conservative will tell you, "Look, I made it. You can make it too."

LIBERAL.... A liberal judges the success of welfare by the number of people who receive it.
CONSERVATIVE.... A conservative judges the success of welfare by the number of people who no longer need it.

LIBERAL.... A Liberal wants you to be comfortable in your poverty. They will help you be conformable with welfare and food stamps, but you can't work.
CONSERVATIVE.... A Conservative wants you to be comfortable by helping you out of poverty and supporting yourself.

LIBERAL.... Liberals want to legalize marijuana.
CONSERVATIVE.... Conservatives want to legalize the concealed carry of hand guns.

LIBERAL.... Liberals used to listen to the Mario Cuomo talk radio program.
CONSERVATIVE.... Conservatives listen to the Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Neal Boortz, Lee Rodgers, Melanie Morgan, Matt Drudge, Roger Hedgecock, Ken Hamblin, GG Liddy, Alan Keyes, Oliver North, Mike Reagan, and many more on talk radio.

LIBERAL.... Liberals believe that a problem can be solved by forming a government program or agency to regulate it. Then, when the problem is not solved, it only because the government program was under funded.
CONSERVATIVE.... Conservatives believes that most problems are caused by government programs or agencies.

LIBERAL.... Liberals are liberal with other people's TAX MONEY.
CONSERVATIVE.... Conservatives are conservative with their OWN money.

LIBERAL.... A Liberal sees the discouraged and downtrodden, gives them a HAND-OUT and says, "Look what I just did!"
CONSERVATIVE.... A Conservative sees the discouraged and downtrodden, gives them a HAND-UP, and says, "Look what you just did!"

LIBERAL.... Liberals believe that animals have rights. You have to be aware to have rights. Animals don't and don't even know they don't have rights.
CONSERVATIVE.... My ancestors did not fight to the top of the food chain for me to become a liberal vegetarian!

LIBERAL.... Liberals refuse to believe what the Second Amendment says and try to pass laws against it.
CONSERVATIVE.... Conservatives want to legalize the concealed carry of hand guns. NO! It's already legal. It is right there in the Second Amendment.

LIBERAL.... Liberals believe in limiting personal freedom for the betterment/good/safety of the people as a whole.
CONSERVATIVE.... Conservatives believe, in the words of Ben Franklin, "He who sacrifices individual freedom for personal safety ends up with less of both and deserves neither.

LIBERAL.... If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart.
CONSERVATIVE.... If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain.

LIBERAL.... A dimpled chad, anywhere on a ballot, is a vote for Gore.
CONSERVATIVE.... A dimpled chad is evidence of vote fraud.

Excerpts from the (never delivered) Commencement Speech
By Neal Boortz

From the Left you will hear "I feel."
From the Right you will hear "I think."

From the Liberals you will hear references to groups --The Blacks, The Poor, The Rich, The Disadvantaged, The Less Fortunate." On the Left you hear talk of group rights.
From the Right you will hear references to individuals. On the Right, you hear [talk of] individual rights.

Liberals feel. Liberals care. They are pack animals whose identity is tied up in group dynamics.
Conservatives and Libertarians think -- and, setting aside the theocracy crowd, their identity is centered on the individual.

Liberals feel that their favored groups, have enforceable rights to the property and services of productive individuals.
Conservatives (and Libertarians, myself among them I might add) think that individuals have the right to protect their lives and their property from the plunder of the masses.

Question of the Day

A first grade teacher explained to her class that she was a liberal Democrat. She then asked her students to raise their hands if they were liberal Democrats, too. Not really knowing what a liberal Democrat was, but wanting to please their teacher, hands exploded into the air like fleshy fireworks.

There was, however, one exception. A girl named Lucy had not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asked Lucy why she decided to be different.

"Because I'm not a liberal Democrat," Lucy said.

The teacher asked, "Then what are you?"

"I'm a proud conservative Republican" said the little girl.

The teacher, a little perturbed and red-faced, asked Lucy why she was A conservative Republican?

Lucy proclaimed, "Well, I was brought up to trust in myself and freedom, instead of relying on an intrusive government to care for me and do all of my thinking. My Dad and Mom are conservative Republicans, and I am a conservative Republican too."

The teacher calmly pointed out, "That's no reason. What if your Mom and Dad were both morons? What would you be then?"

Lucy answered, "Then, I'd be a liberal Democrat."

Some Very Important Quotes from the Past to the Present

"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American peoples liberty teeth and keystone under independence...From the hour the pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to ensure peace, security, and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable...The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference-they deserve a place of honor with all that is good." - George Washington

"On every question of construction (of the constitution) let us carry ourselves back to the time when the constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit of the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed." - Thomas Jefferson

"The constitution shall never be construed...to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms."-Alexander Hamilton

"The whole of the Bill (of rights) is a declaration of the right of the people at large and considered as individuals....It establishes some rights of the individual as unalienable and which consequently, no majority has the right to deprive them of." Albert Gallatin of the New York Historical Society Oct. 7, 1789

"arms in the hands of citizens [may] be used at individual discretion...in private self-defense." - John Adams

"The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able may have a gun." - Patrick Henry

"No free man shall ever be disbarred the use of arms." - Thomas Jefferson

"The best that we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed." - Alexander Hamilton

"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms." - James Madison

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." - Thomas Jefferson

"The constitution of most of the states (and of the United States) assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed and that they are entitled to freedom of person, freedom of religion, freedom of property, and freedom of the press." - Thomas Jefferson

"Last Monday a string of amendments were presented to the lower house; these altogether respect personal liberty..." Sen. William Greyson of Virginia in a letter to Patrick Henry

"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops...." - Noah Webster

"As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people duly before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the next article in their right to keep and bear their private arms." - Tench Cox in Remarks on the First Part of the Amendments to the Federal Constitution"

"The right of the people to keep and bear arms has been recognized by the general government; but the best security of that right is... the military spirit, which has always distinguished the free citizens of these States....Such men form the best barrier to the Liberties of America." Gazette of the United States, Oct. 14, 1789

"This year will go down in history. For the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient and the world will follow our lead into the future!" - Adolph Hitler, 15 April 1935, in an address to the Reichstag. It could be that this quote is a loose translation. See the next quote for the intent. Check The AFU and Urban Legend Archive Hitler Gun Control for nit picking and a diversionary white wash. Arguing about the exact words and ignoring the subsequent history is foolish.

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the underdog is a sine qua non ["something essential" lit. "without which not"] for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or police." - Adolph Hitler, Edict of March 18, 1938

There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. When there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.
- Ayn Rand

"It is a commonplace that the history of civilization is largely the history of weapons......that ages in which the dominant weapon is expensive or difficult to make will tend to be ages of despotism, whereas when the dominant weapon is cheap and simple, the common people have a chance. Thus, for example, tanks, battleships, and bombing planes are inherently tyrannical weapons, while rifles, muskets, long-bows, and hand grenades are inherently democratic weapons.
A complex weapon makes the strong stronger, while a simple weapon.....gives claws to the weak." "That rifle on the wall of the labourer's cottage or working class flat is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays there." - George Orwell, from an essay in 1945

"Our main agenda is to have all guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It doesn't matter if you have to distort the facts or even lie. Our task of creating a Socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed." --Sarah Brady (In a letter to Senator Howard Metzenbaum, The National Educator, January 1994, page 3)

Judicial Watch Filegate Deposition of Linda Tripp. Dec 14, 1998

Excerpt:

[snip....]

Q (Larry Klayman of Judicial Watch): Did you subsequently understand those files to concern FBI files?
A (Linda Tripp): Well, it was the same stacks, literally, of files with very little exception or at least not discernible exception that Betsy Pond later referred to as FBI files many months later.

Q (Klayman): She pointed to those files and said those are FBI files?
A (Tripp): Mm-hmm. That was during the conversation in which she identified them, yes.

Q (Klayman): Was that during the same conversation where she told you she was loading them on to computers?
(Ms. Shapiro FBI Attorney): Objection to form.
A (Tripp): No, that was a separate conversation.

Q (Klayman): Now, were there files strewn all over Kennedy's office when you would go in there?
(Shapiro): Objection. Form.
A (Tripp): No.

Q (Klayman): Where were these files located that he was shaking his head about?
A (Tripp): Everywhere in stacks.

Q (Klayman): What do you mean by "everywhere"?
A (Tripp): He had a large office, and Old EOB offices are rather roomy, and they were everywhere. You had to -- there are -- the desk was in the middle of the office facing the doorway in a sense across from the mantel and the fireplace surround, and I don't recall his desk being significantly cluttered one way or another. It was not like Vince's desk, certainly, or like Bernie's desk, but it looked like a work desk. But the stacks were what caught one's eye.

Q (Klayman): Were they stacked up on a table?
A (Tripp): Yes, and on the floor, and I didn't know how they didn't fall.

Q (Klayman): How high were the stacks?
A (Tripp):  Relatively high. For instance, I would stand in front of his desk when I would speak to him, and some of the files were hip high. I'm five-eight and he's five-ten, so do the math.

Q (Klayman): How many stacks were there at any given point in time, generally?
A (Tripp): I never counted them. A lot. My impression of Bill Kennedy's office from that day forward never changed, and that was that he was the keeper of more files than I'd ever seen in my life, which is why when the FBI issue -- excuse me, FBI file issue became a public issue I was surprised at the number that seemed to be associated with the file issue because it seemed so very many more than 900, if those in fact were the FBI files.

Q (Klayman): In other words, what you saw in Kennedy's office when you worked in the White House counsel's office were many more than the 900 that were reported to have been the FBI files that came over to The White House?
(Shapiro): Objection. Form.
A (Tripp): That was my impression. I didn't count them but it seemed so to me.
